Hello everyone!

I've read a lot of books focused on self-development since the start of this damn pandemic.

Despite the rather controversial reputation of personal development, I have always thought that there was a very honorable heart of knowledge when we cut down and cut up the useless fat from the beast. Exit positive thinking, injunctions to smile, etc...

I came to Dr. Glover's book "No more Mr Nice Guy", quite well known and which I avoided for a while because I found the title quite "labelling". (“Me a Nice Guy? Let me live a little”). But we must believe that the wisdom according to which we find unpleasant and flee what is most useful to us is indeed true.

Without being a cliché of the overly nice man, Nice Guy syndrome is actually something that is not so nice. On the menu: passive-aggressive, twisted beliefs, self-shame, counterproductive sexuality (porn compulsion in particular), blockages, self-sabotage, anxiety.... Real psychology finally applied behind a punchy title but quite simplistic in my opinion.

Anyway, as I said in my point, the author has clearly grasped something fundamental in my opinion. And something of magnitude to transform our lives as men. All men have some Nice Guy in them. And many I think here on this site suffer from the syndrome in a moderate to severe way, a smaller proportion must experience it severely.

The solution is in the book as a guide to rethinking with humility and acceptance your entire mode of functioning and thinking (1)
In our actions, habits, our practices which are based on healthier decisions due to a return to a healthier paradigm (2)
And in the exchange between men with the aim of exposing ourselves to the light of others, without judgment, reclaiming our entire life and our history, the good as well as the bad, the shameful as well as the glorious, taking responsibility for everything in front of other men and with them, exchanging and mutually nourishing our identities (3)

Many of the goals the author tells us to achieve involve this (3), this laying bare in a group. To assume who we really are, without masks, among men who seek to reclaim their entire lives.

I didn't find such a group. I propose to create it. I created a discord server. Join here: discord.gg/7djrP2Zd

Obviously reading the book or having read it is super interesting from this perspective. But come anyway, I'll see how to organize myself if you're not yet in this situation. The most important thing is a sincere desire to build lasting self-confidence, lasting self-esteem, not based on women, conquests, StopFap, career. Based on oneself, on the choice of wanting to be oneself and no one else, the world had to collapse; wanting to open our eyes to what can bother us the most, without procrastination, in order to correct the failures as closely as possible at the source.

See you soon !
